Eco-Health Care Certificate
The Eco-Health Care Certificate Program prepares candidates for multiple roles working in support of people living with environmental illnesses. This certificate option is appropriate for individuals who currently are or would like to provide care for people living with chronic EIs, as well as medical and healthcare professionals (nurses, therapists, individual and group facilitators), regular education and special education teachers and specialists, case managers, consultants, administrators, family members and significant others.
- Understanding Environmental Illnesses and their physical, emotional, psychosocial impact on lives
- The medical, care, and support needs of a person living with a chronic Environmental Illness
- The role of the Eco-Health Care provider
Application Requirements: (include but are not limited to)
- References from current and former employers/clients
- Two letters of recommendation
- Personal statement
How long does it take?
Each CELA online course is made up of 10 modules and is set up to be completed within one typical semester, 14 weeks. The full Eco-Health Care Certificate Program could be completed in two full-time semesters. Students create their own schedule for courses with a maximum of four CELA online courses in any one semester. All courses must be taken through CELA.
General Education Requirements
CELA’s Eco-Health Care Certificate Program requires completion of the following 5 courses:
- EH01 Professional Development: Eco-Health
- EH02 Human Growth & Development Across the Lifespan
- EH06 Nutrition
- EH07/CC Fundamentals in the Continuum of Care
- EH08/CC Working with Clients with Environmental Illness
In addition to the 5 General Education courses, the Eco-Health Care Certificate Program requires the completion of 1 elective course. Elective courses can be chosen from the following CELACare online courses:
- EH03 Medical Terminology
- EH04 Human Body Systems
- EH05 Transmission & Control of Infection
- EH09 Introduction to Psychology
- EH10 Culture & Diversity
The Capstone Project
All Eco-Health Care Certificate Program students are required to complete a capstone project. The capstone project planning begins at the start of their training and the final product is due at the successful conclusion of all certificate program requirements. All students area automatically enrolled in the course, EH00 Capstone Project, (this course is free.) Students design their capstone projects in myriad formats that range from writing a paper to creating a video submission. The course EH00 Capstone Project provides full details and instructions for completing the capstone project.
Each CELA online course is 30 hours
Tuition for the Eco-Health Care Certificate Program is $600 (Does not include fees or the cost of required course books.)
